Our Story
In my mind’s eye, I could see what I wanted. Taps in unlacquered raw brass. An almost industrial look. A living finish, that would change over time. Growing in character. Gaining a beautiful, natural patina. The thing was, they didn’t exist yet.
So I decided to make them myself.
A photographer friend took some pictures for his portfolio. He sent them to an interiors website, to see if they’d pique any interest. We had no plans at all to sell taps – but people began writing in. They wanted raw brass as well.
It was unexpected, but exciting. Why not start a business? What’s the worst that could happen? But with one important condition: never compromise. I wanted to set a new standard in quality. It was either that – or don’t bother.
I called up some of the most talented and hard-working people I know. We named ourselves Studio Ore. That was in 2015.
Today, you’ll find Studio Ore brassware in many of the most beautiful design projects in the world. Every piece, of unsurpassed quality. And every piece, finished by hand.
"What matters to us is the quality. We want to be the best (in our niche) in the world." - Daniel Lee, Founder and Design Director

Made by us
All our products are designed – and importantly, made – by us. Never mass-produced. Always born in small batches.
What began in a small workshop in rural Sussex has grown into our own facility on the shores of Lake Orta. It’s a part of Italy with a long tradition in skilled metalworking. We’ve brought together a team obsessed by attention-to-detail.
And unlike other brands we could mention, we don’t outsource to faraway shores where third-party manufacturers rely on sub-standard materials. And labour practices that are even more dubious...
What matters to us is the quality. We want to be the best (in our niche) in the world.
Which is why when it comes to the finish, whether it’s raw, plated, dipped or a matte lacquer, for us it is always by hand.

How we do Business
From the very start, we wanted to work differently.
Dealing one-to-one with designers, architects and homeowners. At first from our base here in London, and now also from our offices in New York and Milan.
We have regional consultants the world over. (We’ll talk brassware in any language.) And you won’t see us on sale in tap showrooms.
That’s because we care about service. As a designer, architect or homeowner, you tend to know what you’re aiming for. We’re here to help make it happen.
So you’re always welcome to meet us in person. In England, the US, Italy – or we’ll come to you. As proud as I am of our photography, our products only really come to life when you touch them.
We may not be to everybody’s taste. That’s okay. No-one’s perfect.
